[PSL -- For Superchill] -- Out of the Frying Pan and into the Explosions

Part One
Part Two
Part Three

[A month had passed.

For all intents and purposes, things were getting better. Since that night, he and Kacchan had fallen into a routine, a flow: They work on opposite shifts, taking care of business at home while the other's away, making sure Inko is cared for while they go about their daily routines. They had around an hour or two together a night between the time they go on their shifts, and he cherished those moments (alongside the massive amounts of texts Izuku liked to send during lulls in patrols) more than anything. Izuku actually had a decent night's sleep and ate properly (thanks to Kacchan's watchful eye and expert hand), and even had a bigger bounce to his step than usual.

Those not in the know wondered if it was some particularly good news, or if he had reconnected with an old flame away from the cameras. The tabloids loved making a huge deal about his love life, though that was part of being a hero, wasn't it? Didn't mean that it wasn't simultaneously exasperating and hilarious when reporters would make wild theories over who he was in love with. Hell, just a week and a half ago, one of the large gossip websites crossposted an overblown reddit theory over how he and Todoroki were not only secretly married, but had two kids on the DL through a tryst with Ochaco, who was acting as their surrogate. He sent the link to Todoroki and Ochaco, and laughed his ass off about it at home before telling Kacchan the abridged version.

The very few that were in the know? They knew it was because of his relationship with Kacchan, and the joys (and arguments, admittedly -- the two weren't perfect, and did butt heads from time to time) that it brought into his life.

Hell, if you really thought about it, the start of their relationship was the beginning of some incredible things. Inko was recovering at an alarming rate -- not perfect by any means, but she was certainly a far cry from where she was when she'd first collapsed, thanks to Kacchan's cooking, the Physical Therapy, and some quality time with her son.

Things were good.

And this should have been like just any other day.

Izuku was on the night shift, and it was nearly time for him to clock out when he got the call. In fact, he was about to send a text letting Kacchan know that he was about to head home when his phone beeped with the emergency signal.

Some villains had decided to group together and attack Musutafu station in the early morning, right around when commuters were making their way to work. It was 5 in the morning, but the Trains never sleep, as they say, and if that went down, then everyone was going to be in big trouble.

He'd slipped into Full Cowl like a familiar glove and rushed there as fast as he could go -- thankfully, it wasn't long, only a few minutes.

There were no other heroes on the scene that he could see, but the police were certainly there. Several cop cars lined the area, with multiple men and women in uniform leaning beside police cars with their weapons at the ready in case things went south. Nothing was on fire,

Izuku rounded the corner at full speed, stopping to talk to one of the regular beat cops who was already starting to tape around the place to keep civilians and unauthorized persons out.

"What's the situation?" He asked.

"One villain," the man didn't even look up from his work, "They have some sort of metal quirk. Can bend the trains around."

"Any hostages?"

"None that we know of; commuters were just starting to go to the station when they showed up, but there could be stragglers."

"I'll be careful. Is there anyone else in there?"

"A girl with a telekinesis quirk ran in a few minutes before you got here. Ripple, I think."

"Okay. I'll go in now and give her my support. Make sure that the civilians stay away from here."

"On it."

He rushed in quickly, hopping in the station with Full Cowl active and ready.

The Station was silent, with no trains in sight. Really, it was too quiet, too still.

That is, until he heard a loud rumbling from a distance, and a train flew at him, off the tracks and full-strength, from the other end of the tunnel. Ripple was hanging on the end, screaming as part of the train had held her tight in some sort of death-grip.

Izuku was only barely able to stop it in time, though his arm was a bit worse for wear for the trouble.

The train was stilled, and it seemed that Ripple was unconscious, probably from the shock. She'd expected to be knocked into a wall and killed -- it wasn't a surprise, especially since she was a new hero, just finished as a sidekick and only recently put on solo patrol. Her quirk wasn't well-suited to one-on-one fights, especially in these sort of close quarters, but it was amazing that she'd decided to step in and do what she could, anyway.

Prying her from the vice-grip of the train (it was empty -- thank God), Deku set her aside, leaning against the station wall for comfort, before he leapt over the train to confront the villain he knew was waiting for him in the tunnel ahead.

...

The news headline for the incident, which was being covered by the very nosy reporters that cops relied on and Heroes dreaded, read:

"SHOWDOWN AT MUSUTAFU STATION! HERO DEKU CAPTURES VILLAIN STEELBENDER AFTER FIERCE BATTLE!"

The scroll on the bottom of the screen is small, but it clearly reads: No casualties: Heroes Ripple and Deku injured, currently hospitalized.]
